Recommendations  

Our team has made the following recommendations based on many hours of internet-research and conducting a local study. We came up with two major recommendations, each with sub-recommendations that will benefit Grounded Plant & Floral Co. The focus was on how to most effectively market the business using social media.

Make Modifications to Website

  • Update the Shop tab on the site to include more items to inform the public on what kinds of plants you have available

    • Include the non-plant items you offer as well, such as soaps, stickers, posters, books, etc.

  • Create a Rewards Program

    • Offer customers to opt-in by email to receive discounts and specials exclusive to those who take the time to sign up

Maximize Social Media Use

  • Use social media to market your business

    • Social media is extremely cost-effective and reaches a larger scope than traditional media

  • Make weekly posts on Instagram and Facebook to create opportunities for communication between you and your followers

    • By building an online community through social media use, you create an environment to create connections with customers which generates loyalty to your business

  • Make modifications to the website by updating it to include current plants that are available at your location

    • Include the non-plant items you offer as well, such as soaps, stickers, posters, books, etc.

 

Pursue and Market Green Certification

  • Focus on using sustainable methods of doing business

    • Develop a recycling program

    • Low-Flush toilets and Low Flow sinks to conserve water

    • Purchase energy-efficient products and equipment

  • Use social media to market your sustainability efforts

  • Raise prices slightly to account for the costs of going green

    • While it can be costly to partake in sustainability practices, over time going green will save the company money

    • Customers are willing to pay more for products that come from eco-conscious businesses

Using our local survey, we found that 97% of 511 respondents list Instagram as their most used social media. At 45%, Facebook was the next most used social media platform. Based on these findings, we have decided that focusing on Instagram and Facebook as marketing platforms would most benefit the business. Our team has also concluded that having green certification makes 70% of respondents more likely to patronize a business. We found that there were more people who have heard of/already patronized Grounded Plant & Floral Co. than who have not. Our recommendations are only possible because of all the work that has already been put into marketing and engaging the Indianapolis community.
